Michigan Ave. Now Safe, Reopens to Traffic

City crews on Wednesday reopened the Michigan Ave. underpass after nearly two days of diverting traffic.
The roadway closed after Monday’s torrential storm, which brought about three inches of rain to the area in just under an hour, which causing heavy flooding and a minor landslide near the roadway.
Michigan Ave. is a heavily-used arterial road in the city. The closure forced traffic on to Bus. 51 to the west, causing long waits for motorists and traffic snarls.
