Yvette “Frenchie” A. Newby, 90
Yvette “Frenchie” A. Newby, age 90, of the Town of Linwood, Wis., died peacefully July 6, 2017 at the North Haven Assisted Living.
Yvette was born January 7, 1927 to the late Adrien and Josephine (LeFoll) LeRoi in Le Havre Normandy France. She attended Graville School in Le Havre.
She married Hobart Newby on July 20, 1946 in Le Havre Normandy, France. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1978. She later met James Barta and enjoyed his companionship until he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2007.
Yvette was member of the National Army and the FFI Underground in France during WWII from 1944 to 1945. In Nov. of 1946 she met her husband in Chicago, Ill. They moved to the Town of Lindwood in 1947, acquired land, and they farmed it until 1963.
Yvette later became employed with the Worth Company Fly Factory from 1950 to 1953. In 1954 Yvette became an assistant nurse for St. Michael’s Hospital. She worked there for 37 years and retiring in 1991.
Yvette was proud of her Catholic Faith and her French heritage. She enjoyed the peacefulness of nature, feeding the deer and squirrels, and the company of the cat, Kitty Kitty.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Boston Funeral Home with Deacon Art Schaller presiding. A Time of Visitation will precede from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Linwood Union Cemetery.
Yvette will be dearly missed by her close friends: Joe Kinney, Janet Hill, and James Basinski.
