Team Schierl Companies hosted their annual charity Golf Classic on June 21 at the Stevens Point Country Club.

The sold-out event raised a record-breaking $103,478 with the help of golfers and sponsors, current Green Bay Packers player Ty Montgomery — #88 — and former Green Bay Packers players George Koonce, Dexter McNabb and Bill Ferrario.

Through a fantastic day of golf and fellowship, the event raised more funds than ever for the local community. Corporate sponsorships, paid activities on-course, raffle ticket sales and entrance fees made up some of the funds raised. Corporate sponsors assisting the event included Great Lakes Coca-Cola, Miller Lite, and Midwest Communications radio stations WDEZ, WSAU and Fox Sports. A silent auction and a live auction in the evening added to the grand total benefiting four deserving Central Wisconsin charities:

Jeremiah’s Crossing; a Babcock, Wis. therapeutic horseback riding center serving individuals with special needs. Funding from this year’s Golf Classic will aid in the renovation of 14 person bunkhouse with kitchen and gathering space for the center’s volunteers, missionaries and staff to be able to stay on-site during the busy season.

The Breast Cancer Family Foundation; a Green Bay-based organization promoting cancer awareness and prevention through presentations in area schools’ health classes. Funding from this year’s Golf Classic will support education presentations reaching 10,000 students in Central & Northern Wisconsin.

Camp Glacier Hollow, an Amherst Junction summer camp dedicated to providing a safe, fun and small group environment, developing the spirit, mind and body of each camper. Funding from this year’s Golf Classic will help make parts of the camp ADA compliant with construction of a handicapped fishing pier, access ramps for cabins and access for additional facilities within the camp.

The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, a Marshfield, non-medical facility serving as a home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers free of charge. Funding from this year’s Golf Classic will create a community theater within the lodge for participants to enjoy movies, popcorn and more.

“This year’s golf event raised over $103,000 for charity which is the largest single event in our company’s history,” said Fritz Schierl, Co-CEO. “We are very appreciative and humbled by the incredible levels of support we received from our sponsors, volunteers, Team Schierl Associates and participants. It is a wonderful feeling to know that so many people are committed to help us raise this amount of money to benefit charities in Central Wisconsin.”
