Sex Offender Set for Release in August

City Times Staff
Stevens Point Police announced Thursday that a twice-convicted sex offender is set to be released in Portage County.
Randolph “Shaggy” Edwards, 42, is scheduled for release from the Oshkosh Correctional Institution on August 15 and return to Portage County. Edwards has been in prison for the past five years.
Edwards is serving his current sentence for a conviction of third-degree sexual assault of a 16-year-old female acquaintance in 2012. He was previously charged with third-degree sexual assault of an adult female acquaintance in 2000.
He will remain under intensive supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections until April 4, 2022 and subject to lifetime GPS monitoring and registry on the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. The registry is located at widocoffenders.org.
Edwards has served his sentence and is not wanted at this time, the release says.
“This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” the release reads in part.
