Moose Lodge Turns 100

City Times Staff
The Moose Lodge is prepping for it’s yearlong centennial celebration.
The Stevens Point Moose Lodge #1572, and Women of the Moose Chapter 311, have begun commemoration of it’s founding in 1918 by installing a moose silhouette outside its facility at 1025 2nd St. North.
A dedication ceremony will be held at 5 PM on July 22 and is open to the public.
The Loyal Order of Moose is a fraternal organization, with a primary purpose to support the Child City in Mooseheart, Ill., and its home for seniors in Jacksonville, Fla.
But all lodges and chapters support many local activities, with the Stevens Point lodge sponsoring local youth sports teams in little league baseball, girls’ softball, Youth Area Football, Samoset Council and Wisconsin Special Olympics.
The lodge also treats residents from the King Veterans’ home in Waupaca to quarterly Friday fish fries.
Moose have also begun reinvesting in the community with various monthly activities. More information can be found at www.moose1572.com.
The yearlong celebration will culminate with a gala event at the lodge next year.
