The Boys & Girls Club is in need of new or gently used bikes.

With an increased interest in bicycling at the club, and the club’s highest attendance yet — 500 per day this year, compared to 400 daily last year, Boys & Girls Club is “in desperate need” of both youth and adult bicycles, according to a news release from the club.

Both children- and adult-sized biked are being sought.

Bikes can be brought to the front desk of the Boys & Girls Club Berard Center, 941 Michigan Ave., from where club staff can distribute.

The club is also looking for volunteers to help with bicycle tune-ups and teaching basic bike repair for club kids.

The club is currently gearing up for its 9th annual Bike for Boys & Girls Club event, which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The event includes 4, 13, 20 and 60 mile rides, all which begin and end at AIG Travel.

Registered participants will receive a t-shirt, a drawstring bag, water bottle, and a sub sandwich lunch.

This year, the club has added a twist to their event, by having a performance at the finish line from the Milwaukee Bucks Rim Rockers.

The Rim Rockers are a team of daredevils who will perform flips and tricks, including high-flying trampoline dunking.
