Alice L. Faust, 93
Alice was born August 27, 1923 to the late Harry and Marcella (Ranney) Peet in Richwood, OH. Her family moved to Madison, WI where she grew up, attended the local schools, and graduated high school. She completed her undergraduate studies in Madison before enlisting into the US Navy.
She was inducted into the U.S. Navy in 1944. Alice’s duties began with administrative work but after unrelenting training, she became a first-class Aerographer. Alice was honorably discharged in 1946.
Following her military service, Alice served as a Methodist Missionary in Chile for 3 years. Alice’s final year of missionary led her to Santiago College where she taught young children English and music. Subsequently, she returned to the U.S. and to her studies. Alice ultimately completed her master’s degree and doctorate in Theater.
Alice worked for the Madison School District, followed by employment stints at Temple University and the University of Maryland before coming to the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 1961. While at UWSP, Alice taught Communications and Theater until 1985.
She met Gilbert Faust while working at the university and married him in 1971. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Alice will be remembered for her appreciation of the Arts. She had a passion for music and theater, and enjoyed singing and performances. Alice also took pride in her military service and relished her opportunity to visit the World War II Memorial through the Never Forgotten Honor Flight organization. Alice’s appreciation for education was second to none. She enjoyed educating others, as well as being educated.
Survivors include her step daughters, Katherine Faust and Marjorie (Brian) Rozumalski; grandchildren, Adam (Amy) Rozumalski, Anna (Corey) Backhaus, and Elizabeth (Adam) Schemm; 7 great grandchildren; nieces, Barbara Larson, Ruth Bain, Patricia Mack, and Linda Sampson; and extend family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert; siblings, Marion Cotrell, Ruth Peet, Richard Peet, and Jane Hall; and nephews, Harry and Daniel Peet.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at Boston Funeral Home Followed by a Time of Visitation and light refreshments at the funeral home. Interment was held in Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point.
