Lyle Hoff, 96

Lyle Hoff, age 96, of Stevens Point, died peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Willow Brooke Living Center.
Private family graveside services for Lyle will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday July 28, 2017 at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Lyle was born February 28, 1921 in the Town of Stetsonville, the son of Nicholas and Mary (Schneck) Hoff.
Lyle graduated from Medford High School, and began working for the Soo Line Railroad. Lyle
married Margaret Pleus at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, on May 16, 1942.
He served his country in the United States Army as a Technical Sgt in the 745th Railway Operation Battalion, from 1943-1946, serving in both India and Burma. After serving his country the couple moved to Stevens Point in June of 1948. Lyle resumed his career with the Soo Line Railroad, retiring as a dispatcher in 1981.
He was an avid golfer, walker and biker and loved reading to the grand and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching all sporting events.
Lyle is survived by his son Michael (Mattie) Hoff, N Fond Du Lac, and his daughter Mary (Art) Firkus, Stevens Point. Five grandchildren, Jim (Karen) Hoff, Kelly (Jason) Thielke, Brian (Angie) Hoff, Sara Rae (Victor), and Garrett (Gerran) Firkus, along with nine great-grandchildren.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret in 2015, two sisters, and eight brothers.
