Richard C. Wieczorek

Richard Chester Wieczorek, 87, Rosholt, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home in Rosholt.
He was born June 9, 1930, in Rosholt, the son of the late Julian and Katherine (Pliska) Wieczorek.
Mr. Wieczorek graduated from Rosholt High School in 1948, and worked at the family restaurant, The Coffee Cup, for many years.
In 1951, Richard joined the U.S. Army, where he was a Private First Class, earning a National Defense Medal while stationed in Iceland during the Korean War. Upon returning to Rosholt in 1953, Richard spent time working in the family restaurant and as a roofer for Firkus lumber, before settling into a 25-year career as a window clerk at the Rosholt Post Office.
He was a member of Saint Adalbert’s Church and a 60-year member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed many hobbies including softball, bowling, horseshoes, ping-pong, watching sports, gardening and keeping a neatly trimmed yard. He had his own horseshoe pits, and won many honors and trophies tossing horseshoes.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Barbara Jean (Nowak); and many nieces and nephews of several generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Stephan Wieczorek, Julian Wieczorek Jr., and Frank Wieczorek; and sisters, Florence Kneusel, Josephine Boyer, Helen Boyer and Alice Richardson.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated and have a brief interment ceremony with full military honors at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at St. Adalbert’s cemetery during the Rosholt Fair.
