Dreier to ‘Transition From’ Co. Exec Office

By Brandi Makuski
Patty Dreier will not run for a third term as Portage Co. Executive.
According to a letter sent from from her county email account early Friday morning, Dreier told county staff she plans to “transition from” the office in April.
“I wanted you to know that I will not be seeking a third term for this elected office,” Dreier’s email reads in part. It also said she planned to notify the media later on Friday, but she wanted to alert county employees first.
Dreier insisted in her email that she was not retiring, but gave vague hints as to her future plans.
“There are some life-goals that I set for myself long ago and, as you know, the only way to achieve what we want to accomplish in our lives is to be deliberate about taking action on our goals,” Dreier wrote.
Drier concluded her email by saying “there has been no greater honor” than serving the county’s residents, and said she was “grateful” to be part of “such a dedicated team”.
Drier was first elected to the position in 2010.
As of 11 AM on Friday, the Portage Co. Clerk’s Office said Dreier had not yet returned non-candidacy paperwork, but that deadline isn’t until Dec. 22.
More as we have it.
