David C. “Sparky” Helminiak, 60
David C. “Sparky” Helminiak, age 60 of Stevens Point, died Thurs., July 27, 2017 at his home.
He was born March 21, 1957 in Stevens Point. He is the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Ostrowski) Helminiak. He graduated from St. Peter’s grade school and Pacelli High school in 1975.
He received Eagle award as member of Boy Scout Troop 290 in 1974, and also was awarded the Ad Altare Dei and Parvuli Dei, which are the highest Catholic Scouting awards.
He entered the U.S. Marine Corps on Jan 8, 1976 and was honorably discharged Jan. 7, 1979. He received the Good Conduct Medal and Expert Rifle Badge.
David was employed at Consolidated Papers – Wisconsin River Division for over 30 years and was currently employed by Monogram Appetizers in Plover. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge 1572 and St. Peter Holy Name Society.
He enjoyed spending time with family on Silver Lake in Wautoma and landscaping. Uncle “Sparky” was beloved by all his nieces and nephews and their families.
David is survived by his sisters, Mary Jane (Robert) Pliska and Barbara (Gerald) Ksionsk both of Stevens Point. He is further survived by eight nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly, in addition to several grand nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed., Aug. 2, 2017 at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second St. in Stevens Point concluding with military honors.
