Elementary leader hits the ground running
By Heather McDonald
The Stevens Point Area Public School District will see new leadership for its elementary schools beginning this month.
Dave Lockett, the district’s director of Elementary Education, has accepted a position as the Executive Director of Learning Services at CESA 10, and has stepped down after nearly a dozen years with the district.
School Board members recently approved hiring Cory Hirsbrunner, district administrator/superintendent of School District of Monroe, to take Lockett’s place. The contract is for two years at $112,000 each year.
“We are excited for Cory to join our team and bring her knowledge and expertise in elementary curriculum development to our students and staff,” Superintendent Craig Gerlach said. “As we begin to address the objectives and goals identified in our strategic plan, Cory will have an impact as we look to focus on early literacy and continued development of the whole child.”
