Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin (BBBS) is hosting its 13th annual Taste of the Town event from 5 p.m. to dusk, Saturday, Aug. 12, at Pfiffner Pioneer Park, 1100 Crosby Ave., Stevens Point.

BBBS is a mentoring organization that provides one-on-one programing for children in Central Wisconsin. Taste of the Town is BBBS’s second largest event behind its annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event.

Last year, Taste of the Town brought in $25,000 with Bowl for Kids’ Sake bringing in $70,000 for the organization, allowing them to reach out to more local children in need.

“These events make up a good portion of our budget,” said BBBS of Central Wisconsin executive director Dawn Cherek. “We estimate 500 people will turn out for this year’s event.”
