The 12U Plover National Fastpitch softball team won the 2017 ASA Class B Northern National Championship in Eau Claire Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 3-6.

Plover went unbeaten at the tournament to cap its season with a 33-7 record.

After a four-hour rain delay Thursday, the Nationals had both of their Pool Play games cancelled, as final bracket play begin Friday based on a blind draw to seed teams.

Plover opened with a 6-5 win over Goodview Sandlot (Minn.). The Nationals came back from a 2-0 deficit, as they rallied for five runs on five hits in the fourth innings to take a 5-2 lead, and then used three consecutive singles in the fifth to score another run to go up 6-2.

Sandlot scored two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to close to within 6-5 with a pair of runners on base, before Plover closed out the 6-5 win.
