Arland Pearl “Butch” Dorn passed away on August 10, 2017 in Junction City at the age of 69.

He was born on March 6, 1948 in Antigo, Wis., the son of Donna Mae “Boots” (Spears) and Elroy Herman Adolph Dorn. Butch grew up in Lincoln County where he worked with his grandparents on their dairy farm. Butch attended Merrill High School. After graduating high school Butch enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 and served for four years. He then attended the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point where he graduated with a Masters degree in education.

With his degree in hand, Butch took a job with the Stevens Point School District. He worked for the district for 27 years, with his last 10 years happily spent at Kennedy Elementary in Junction City.

Butch was a friend to everyone he met and was always ready with a good story. Everyone who knew Butch knows he loved golfing in the summer, hunting in the fall and winter, and playing cards and watching all his favorite teams (Packers, Brewers and the Badgers) throughout the year. Through the years he coached youth softball and wherever he went would run into someone who’d been on one of his teams. He and his brother and a group of friends formed the Doering Hunting Gang. They had a cabin and a hundred acres in Doering, Wis., where Butch and the gang would hunt deer every season and get up to a variety of other shenanigans (food and drink were involved).

Butch is survived by his wife, Susan (Jorgenson) Dorn; brother, Rick Dorn of Merrill; sister Charlene Hill of Norco, Cali.; son, Jason Dorn of Stevens Point; grandson Trenton Dorn of Mosinee and many other beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wayne, sister Terry and a great nephew, Jayden.

A funeral service will be held at Boston Funeral Home, 1649 Briggs St., Stevens Point. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 4 PM with Rev. David E. Ficken presiding. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service at 4 PM.

Online condolences may be made to www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
