Mavis M. Gaedtke, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017. She succumbed to complications from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

She grew up on a farm and watched her siblings milk the cows. As one of the younger children, she found comfort playing with her pet chicken, pushing it in a stroller.

One of her first jobs was a secretarial positon at Point Sporting Goods. While there, she met salesman Donald Gaedtke. They were married Aug. 30, 1952.

Mrs. Gaedtke also worked as an administrative secretary for the Stevens Point Housing Authority, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Idea Associates.

She enjoyed traveling, bridge and had a love for gardening; she won several blue ribbons through her garden club. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, with a memorial service at 11 a..m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. A luncheon will follow. A private family burial will be held in Forest Cemetery.
