Evelyn M. Helminiak, 95, Plover, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines, Plover.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1921, to the late Frank and Mary (Olszewski) Bartkowiak in Stevens Point, where she grew up, attended the local schools of Grant and P.J. Jacobs, and graduated high school in 1940.

She worked for the Weber Lifelike Fly Co. and retired from Sentry Insurance.

She met George Helminiak and fell madly in love; they were married in 1943 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Stevens Point. He preceded her in death in 1974.

Mrs. Helminiak enjoyed shopping, dancing at church picnics, listening to the extensive CD collection that she had amassed, baking and spending time with her family; family gatherings were a large and important facet of her life.

She was a 50-year-plus member of the Legion Auxiliary; a lifelong member of the Democratic Party; a 62-year member of St. Peter’s Rosary Society (Rose 25) and the oldest living member of the Catholic Harmonia Club.

Survivors include one son, Gregory (Marie) Helminiak; two daughters, Dianne (Curt) Beversdorf and Jane (Bob) Zurawski; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Bartkowiak; longtime family friend, Jane Staples.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; and siblings, Rose Brandies, Julia Combs, Jean Rogers, Ray and Louie Wishman.

The family wishes to thank Brittni and the team of excellent caregivers from The Lodge at Whispering Pines and the caregivers from Ministry Home Care Hospice program.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, Plover, with the Rev. Charlie Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time for Mass. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be assisting the family.
