Parking Kiosks Hit City Streets

City Times Staff
Motorists in Stevens Point will have to look a little hard for free parking beginning next month.
New parking pay stations are being installed across the city, and will be active Sept. 5.
The electronic kiosks replace old parking meters at various locations surrounding the UW-Stevens Point campus and Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital. Kiosks will also be introduced into new areas where motorists could previously park for free.
The parking rate will be $0.50 an hour, with coin, debit and credit cards taken at the kiosks.
The kiosks are being installed as part of a 2015 parking study, and was approved for implementation by the City Council on Aug. 21.
The city also plans to install additional kiosks at other locations in the future, to include the Downtown District.
