It’s easy when you live in one of the country’s major metropolitan areas – for instance, Stevens Point –to think that nothing is better than what you’ve got right there, such as the Green Circle Trail.

But sometimes we don’t have to break far out of our city-slicker shells to find something equally wonderful, such as the Tomorrow River State Trail.

Granted that the trail does have a terminus in Plover, which technically is inside our Greater Urban Fish Fry Statistical Area. But it also leads us to a whole world of other trails, and we should probably all consider making it a goal to get out there.

It crosses the Ice Age Trail at Gillman Road, halfway between Amherst and Scandinavia, and as a snowmobile trail in winter, it of course meets many other trails.

So this column is a toast to seeing the last two-thirds of the Tomorrow River trail (I wrote about the first part last week). Here’s to setting other worthy goals, such as finding new bakeries along the trail. And here’s to not caring about missed goals while resetting with equally good aims, such as visiting tried-and-true alternative bakeries along the way.
