Dorothy J. Groshek, age 84 of the Town of Stockton, passed away at her home of natural causes on Sunday August 27, 2017.

Dorothy was born May 21, 1933 in the Town of Stockton. She is the daughter of the late Ambrose and Martha (Betro) Sankey.

She married Jerome Groshek on November 5, 1951 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher.

The couple moved to Milwaukee where they started a family, which over the years grew to 11 children on a farm which they purchased in 1964, on Lake Thomas Road in Stevens Point, which they farmed until 1976.

Dorothy, while raising a loving family, also worked outside the home at Worzella Potatoes, Klemen’s Potato Farm and Basic American Foods. Dorothy took a short break and enjoyed time with Jerome fishing, camping and gardening until Jerome passed away Feb. 2, 2009. She then continued her work at Worzella’s until her passing.

Dorothy was an active member of the St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Rosary Society, she also spent many years cooking for the annual church picnic. She made the best paczki’s, molasses cookies and many other favorites. She was deeply loved and will be missed greatly. In lieu of flowers a memorial in her name will be established at a later date.

Dorothy is survived by five sons: Daniel (Kathy Dorshorst) of Stevens Point, Bruce (Sandy) of Amherst, Howard (Kris Hoffenberger) of Stevens Point, Todd (Tammy) of Amherst and Rick (Jera Schneider) Groshek of Stevens Point; five daughters: Cindy (Steve) Cottrill of Amherst, Sharon Groshek of Plover, Lori (Steve Makuski) Christian of Waupaca, Amy (Jay Graetz) Groshek of Neenah and Peggy Groshek of Amherst Junction; one daughter-in-law: Kathy (Lee Larson) Groshek of Stevens Point; 16 grandchildren: Peter (Ebony), Amanda, James, Alissa (Ben), Nick (Jamie), Gayle (Steven), Ryan (Alyse), Sara (Nick), Nathan, Katie, Mack, Cole (Nikki), Seth, Nate, Jared (Adrianna) and Sadie (Ben); six great-grandchildren: Trenton, Jadon, Isaiah, Hewitt, Seager and Miles; one brother: Greg (Jane) Sankey; and two sisters: Betty (Lynn) Thompson and Linda (Paul) Kruza.

She is preceded in death by one son Lewis, her brothers Mike and Chester Sankey, and sister Geraldine Kurkowski.

Funeral mass will be at 1 PM on Friday Sept. 1, 2017 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. Rev. Daniel Hackel will officiate.

Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Rd. Plover, and from 11:30 AM until the time of services Friday morning at the church.

St. Mary’s Rosary Society will pray a rosary at 6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
