Betty L. Moss, 98, formerly of Stevens Point, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

She was born Feb. 13, 1919 to the late Roy and Mata (Mielke) Richards in Lodi. She attended elementary and high school in Portage. She then attended Central Wisconsin Teachers College (now University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point).

Following college, she became a teacher. In her earlier years, she also had the opportunity of teaching in the Mosinee, Stevens Point and Rhinelander areas.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth A. Moss June 18, 1943.

In 1950, she and her husband built and operated Moss Floral in Adams, until retirement in 1977. In addition to the floral business, Mrs. Moss also taught in the Adams-Friendship schools for 22 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and a volunteer at the Lincoln Center (Aging and Disability Resource Center of Portage County) for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending Elderhostel, plays and concerts; in addition to traveling and volunteer work.

Survivors include her sons, Richard (Betty) Moss, Sioux Falls, S.D., and David Moss, Wisconsin Dells; two grandchildren, Tony (Kristen) Moss, Miller, S.D., and Miranda Moss, Sioux Falls; two great-grandchildren, Rylie and Peyton Moss; and extend family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Kenneth.

A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Clay Schmit presiding. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. Interment will take place at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship.
