SPASH
Following a come-from-behind, last-second 23-21 victory at ninth-ranked Hudson last week, SPASH will play at home against Kimberly Friday night in a rematch of last year’s WIAA Division 1 State Semifinals.
“We’re focusing on ourselves and getting better, but the reality is that we’re playing a team that’s a returning four-time State Champion, and I think you’ve got to look forward to that opportunity,” said SPASH football head coach Pete McAdams. “A lot of teams are going to give them their best game, and they always say, ‘in order to be the best, you have to beat the best.’”
Led by head coach Steve Jones, a former SPASH and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) standout, top-ranked Kimberly currently has the nation’s longest winning streak in high school football at 58 games, as it rallied from a 28-27 deficit with under a minute to play to beat fifth-ranked Fond du Lac 35-28 in Week 1 of this season, and then won 42-28 against 10th-ranked Wisconsin Rapids last week.
