SPASH Soccer Downs Marshfield

Coming off a 1-0 loss at Wausau West Tuesday, the SPASH boy’s soccer team returned to the friendly confines of the Portage County Youth Soccer Complex Thursday night, running past Marshfield to even their Wisconsin Valley conference record at 1-1.

The Panthers scored early and often to defeat the Tigers 10-0 on the strength of four goals and two assists off the foot of Junior Ricky Perez.

Senior Keondre Porter put the Panthers on the board at the 2:00 mark with the assist to Perez. SPASH rolled up six goals in the first half with 10 shots on goal.

Freshman Spencer Banks recorded four saves in goal for the Panthers in the period. Junior Ethan Manzke stepped in to see second half action recording one save.

“The team played amazing tonight,” said Perez. “We found the groove in the midfield and dominated the game. I’m excited for the rest of the season.”

SPASH is on the road Thursday, Sept. 7 for a 7 PM contest at Wisconsin Rapids, then travel to Chippewa Falls Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 PM.

The Panthers return home Tuesday, Sept. 12 when they host Merrill. Game time is set for 7 PM.

2nd half: 47:00 Ben Yang (asst. Keondre Porter); 49:00 Ricky Perez (unassisted); 50:00 Lio Perkins (asst. Ricky Perez); 85:00 Ricky Perez (asst. Yia Yang).
