VIDEO: SPPD Swears in New Officer

The Stevens Point Police Dept. on Tuesday welcomed a new officer.
Stormy Gerndt was sworn in as a probationary police officer on Sept. 5 before a roomful of her new colleagues at SPPD. Gerndt, 22, said she initially planned to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps and become a game warden, but changed her mind after meeting officers at the Stevens Point Police Department.
Garndt is a UW-Stevens Point graduate who also studied to be a police officer at Mid-State in Wisconsin Rapids.
She hails from Mountain, Wis., which is about an hour north of Green Bay.
