County architect to go back to the drawing board

Architect John Cain will go back and revise a new building and renovation concept plan he presented to Portage County Space and Properties Committee members Tuesday, Sept. 5, after committee members and the Stevens Point mayor said they wanted to see more inclusion of city offices in the plans.

The committee expected to discuss and possibly move forward with conceptual drawings for a new two-story government building and remodeling of the existing County-City Building Tuesday, but there was little to show for the city of Stevens Point’s involvement or use.

“This doesn’t give me more than what we already have,” city Mayor Mike Wiza said. “It is not very usable space from our standpoint.”
