County Road S Bridge to close next week

Portage County Highway Department will begin work on the County Road S Bridge starting next week, closing the bridge without any posted detour.
The County Road S Bridge located over a tributary to Mill Creek in the town of Carson is scheduled to be replaced this fall by the county. Work will begin on Monday, Sept. 11, and continue possibly into early November.
The bridge is located just south of the Lone Elm Road/County Road N intersection with County Road S. The existing 50-year-old bridge is showing structural deterioration and will be replaced with a new concrete slab bridge designed to meet current standards.
Earth Inc. is the prime contractor for the project, which is funded by the Portage County Capital Improvement Program.
The project is scheduled for completion in early November, however scheduled may change based on weather conditions and construction status.
During construction, the bridge will be closed to traffic and no detour posted, according to a Highway Department news release.
Project updates will be posted on the Portage County Highway Department website www.co.portage.wi.us/highway.
