The SPASH Volleyball team on Thursday opened its 2017 Wisconsin Valley Conference season with a 3-1 win over Marshfield at the fieldhouse.
The Panthers took the first two sets 25-13, 25-12. Marshfield battled back to win set three 25-18 before the Panthers put the match away with an exciting 26-24 win.
“Marshfield is a good, hard-working team and they always give us a challenge,” said junior outside hitter Kayla Lass. “The match was very intense and everyone worked well together and pushed through the difficult times.”
Lass led the team with 10 kills and 14 digs. Seniors Rachel Sullivan and Ally Miklesh were solid at the net, each with five blocks and Allysa Deates recorded four service aces for the Panthers.
SPASH hits the road Sept. 12, traveling to Eau Claire Memorial, then steps on the court Sept. 14 at Wausau East. First serve for both contests is scheduled for 7 PM.
