Eugene “Gene” Budelier, 94, Stevens Point, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, while under the care of Hospice. He had resided at the Veterans Home for the past month.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at Holy Spirit Parish. Rev. Thomas Lindner officiated. Visitation was prior to services Tuesday at the church. Full military honors were performed after Mass. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name at a later date. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Mr. Budelier was born April 14, 1923, in Wilton Junction, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Mary (Doran) Budelier. He graduated from Durant High School before entering the United States Army.

He served his country for four years during World War II. He served in the 729th Army Corps of Engineers in both the Pacific and European Theaters. After his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Iowa on the GI Bill, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce.

He was married to Patricia Tinius June 30, 1951, in Laurens, Iowa. The couple lived in both Ames and Davenport, Iowa, before moving to Stevens Point in 1967.

He owned and operated the Budelier Hearing Aid Center until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed golfing, playing horseshoes, camping, square and round dancing, and traveling. He was an active members of St. Stanislaus (Holy Spirit Parish) for over 50 years, serving as an usher and volunteering for many activities. Additionally, he was involved in numerous community activities and charitable organizations during his lifetime.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; five children, Ron (Toni), Greensburo, Ga., John (Lisa), Chandler, Ariz., Greg, Stevens Point, Jeff (Joan), Mosinee, and Tim (Kathy), Stevens Point; 18 grandchildren, Sydni, Mason, Michael, Kirsten, Michael (Alma) Kivi, Paige Kivi, Brooke Kivi, Chris (Bonnie), Dan (Dawn), Jeff, Elizabeth, Eric, Sam (Michelle), Thaddeus, Melissa, Holly (Jon) Meer, and Brett Thompson; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Bill Paulsen, Wilton, Iowa, and Dick (June) Tinius, Naples, Fla.; and one sister-in-law, Sandy (Denny) Knoblauch, Bonita Springs, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Joe and Leo; and three sisters, Rosemary Ehreke, Darlene Geist and Margy Paulsen.
