Eugene “Gene” Budelier, age 94 of Stevens Point, passed away Saturday morning September 16, 2017 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Gene was surrounded by his loving family and under the care of hospice.

He had resided at the Veterans Home for the past month. A Mass of Christian Burial for Gene will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 at Holy Spirit Parish. Rev. Thomas Lindner will officiate.

Friends and family will gather to share memories from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Full military honors will be performed after Mass. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in Gene’s name at a later date. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Gene was born April 14, 1923 in Wilton Junction, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Mary (Doran) Budelier. He graduated from Durant High School before entering the United States Army.

Gene served his country for four years during World War II. He served in the 729th Army Corps of Engineers in both the Pacific and European Theaters. After his honorable discharge, Gene attended the University of Iowa on the GI Bill, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in commerce.

Gene married Patricia Tinius on June 30, 1951 in Laurens, Iowa. The couple lived in both Ames and Davenport before moving to Stevens Point in 1967.

Gene owned and operated the Budelier Hearing Aid Center until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed golfing, playing horseshoes, camping, square and round dancing, and traveling.

Gene and Patricia were active members of St. Stanislaus (Holy Spirit Parish) for over 50 years, serving as an usher and volunteering for many activities. Additionally, he was proudly involved in numerous community activities and charitable organizations during his lifetime.

Gene is survived by his wife Patricia, and their five children: Ron (Toni), Greensburo, Ga., and their children Sydni and Mason; John (Lisa), Chandler, Ariz., and their children Michael, Kirsten, Michael (Alma) Kivi, Paige Kivi, Brooke Kivi; Greg, Stevens Point, and his children Chris (Bonnie), Dan (Dawn), Jeff, and Elizabeth; Jeff (Joan), Mosinee, and their children Eric, Sam (Michelle), Thaddeus, Melissa, Holly (Jon) Meer, and Brett Thompson; Tim (Kathy), Stevens Point. Ten great grandchildren, his brother-in-law Bill Paulsen, Wilton, Iowa and Dick (June) Tinius, Naples, Fla. His sister-in-law: Sandy (Denny) Knoblauch, Bonita Springs, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Robert, Joe, and Leo; and three sisters: Rosemary Ehreke, Darlene Geist, and Margy Paulsen.
