Historical Society to Present History of Brewery

It’s the country’s fifth oldest brewery.
The Stevens Point Brewery turned 160 years old this year; as one of Portage County’s oldest businesses, it has seen a lot of history. The Portage County Historical Society will present that history at 7 PM on Thursday, Oct. 12.
PCHS member John Harry will present the brewery’s history from its founding, surviving prohibition and its place in the modern world of beer. There will also be stories of Stevens Point’s drinking past.
Space is limited to the first 50 participants and admission is a $10 donation to the PCHS. The donation includes two 8 oz. samples of the brewery’s beers, ciders or sodas. A raffle of a commemorative 160th anniversary Point Brewery mash paddle will also held.

The PCHS aims “to preserve, advance, and disseminate knowledge of the history of Portage County, Wisconsin.”
