Margaret Rose Grubba, 91, Stevens Point, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at the Portage County Health Care Center, where she’d been a resident for the past five years.

She was born June 11, 1926, in Stevens Point to Stanley and Mary (Skibicki) Sobczak. She attended local schools, graduating from P. J. Jacobs High School in 1945. She worked various jobs, including Weber Tackle and Consolidated Papers before becoming a homemaker.

She was married to Raymond Grubba after his return home from serving in the U.S. Navy Nov. 26, 1949, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1986.

She enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Dancing with the Stars and “her shows.” She enjoyed listening to Polka music, dancing and traveling. She enjoyed nature, loved bird watching, especially cardinals, and her flower and large vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed fishing and will be remembered for her love of fishing with her cane pole.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Omizo, Honolulu, Hawaii; her son, Kurt (Barb) Grubba, Amherst Junction; two grandchildren, Abbey Grubba, Stevens Point, and Scott Grubba, Plover; her sister, Ardelle (Tom) Tate, Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, one brother: Stanley Sobczak; and four sisters, Helen (Frank) Milanowski, Lucille (George) Singer, Lorraine Hicken and Henrietta Anderson.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stevens Point, with Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial will take place in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.

Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. For online condolences, visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Portage County Health Care Center for their care, especially Betty and Nancy, and center friends Carol and Jean.
