Coming off a 47-20 win at fifth-ranked Bonduel, the top-ranked Amherst High School football team (4-1, 3-0) will look to clinch a playoff spot when it plays at home against Manawa (1-4, 0-3) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in Week 6 of the high school football season.
Almond-Bancroft (4-2, 1-1) returns to Central Wisconsin Conference (CWC) Small play when it hosts Rosholt (1-4, 1-2), Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) (1-4, 0-4) will travel to take on Wausau West (1-4, 1-4), and Pacelli (4-1, 2-1) will host Division 6 fifth-ranked Iola-Scandinavia (4-1, 2-1) at Community Stadium at Goerke Field.
Back-to-back WIAA Division 5 State Champion Amherst led Bonduel 14-13 in the second quarter last week, when the Falcons went on a 33-7 run to win 47-20 and take control of the CWC Large race, heading into their matchup against Manawa Friday.
“Our first goal is always to clinch a playoff spot,” said Amherst football head coach Mark Lusic. “We’re glad to be home and to play Manawa again, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
