Leonard M. Glodowski, 96, Stevens Point, died at home Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017.

He was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Stevens Point, the son of the late Felix and Josephine (Przybylski) Glodowski. He attended St. Peter School, Emerson High School and was in the first graduating class of P.J. Jacobs High School in 1939.

He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in 1945 as a Second Lieutenant. While in the service, he was married to Marie B. Fisher of Stevens Point. She died in 1952. He then was married to Lorraine M. Kluck in 1953 at Sacred Heart Church, Polonia.

Mr. Glodowski was employed at Lullabye Furniture and the U.S. Postal Service in Stevens Point, from which he retired after 30 years. He then shuttled cars for Scaffidi Motors for more than 20 years.

Mr. Glodowski was a member of St. Peter’s Church all his life. He was an altar server and began ushering at age 16, which he continued for more than 60 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Holy Name Society, St. Peter’s Athletic Association, the Catholic Order of Foresters St. John’s Court No. 1807, Polish Association of America, Knights of Columbus No. 1170, American Legion Post 6, and D.A.V. Schumann Heink 30.

He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers and listening to polkas.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; four children, Judie Pfiffner, Amherst, David (Brenda), Brooklyn Park, Minn., Gery (Cindy Kiepert), Plover, and Mary (Chris) Sadler, Stevens Point; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily, Josef, Jessica, Adam, Ross, Stacia and Michelle; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Marie, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ben, Ray and Tony Glodowski; sisters, Modesta Ostrowski and Delores Sorenson; and a son-in-law, Richard Pfiffner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday Sept. 27, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pisarski Funeral home Stevens Point and again on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service in the Faustina room at the church. American Legion Ritual at 6:30 p.m. The St. Peter’s rosary society along with Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters are invited to pray the rosary with the parish at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
