Lindy M. Horn, 97, Plover, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017.

She was born July 15, 1920, the daughter of the late Louis and Maime (Oshasky) Kinney. She attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. She attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, then later enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she was a photostat operator, writing letters to the families of fallen soldiers. She earned a Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and a WACC Service Ribbon.

After returning from her service, she was married to Albert E. Horn. Their marriage later ended in divorce.

She was active in the local school and community. She was treasurer for the Parent Teacher Association and played an integral role in starting the baseball league in Plover. She worked at Sentry for a number of years until her retirement in 1982.

She loved nature and animals. She could often be found outside tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved visiting with family, friends and neighbors and often made baked goods and jams to give to people.

She is survived by her children, Susan (Rex) Cauldwell, Puerto Rico, Barb Glavich, Stevens Point, Richard (Pat) Horn, Stevens Point, and Dian (Peter) Ritter, Merrill; 12 grandchildren, Lena (John Berben) Livermore, Noah (Katie Carle) Livermore, Dana Livermore, Sean Glavich, Matt (Kassie Selck) Glavich, Larry Glavich, Jason Horn, Matt (Lyndsey) Horn, Adam Horn, Josh (Stef) Horn, and Vanessa and Hannah Ritter; and seven great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Evyn, Chloe, Zach, Mya, Tyler and Nathan.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Gwen and Irma; her daughter, Sandra Horn; her sons-in-law, Tom Glavich and Harry Livermore; and her grandson, Drew Livermore.

A family memorial service will take place at a later date.

The family thanks the staff at Maplewood Memory Care and of Heartland Hospice for their care, and Pisarski Funeral Home for assisting with arrangements.
