‘Tame the Flame’ Oct. 7
By Heather McDonald
Coming off a successful first year, Park Ridge Fire Department will hold its second annual Tame the Flame 5K in conjunction with its Kid’s Fitness Challenge in October.
The 5K fun run/walk is a fundraiser for the Fire Department, with dollars going toward equipment purchases. Last year, the money raised enabled the volunteer department to purchase a thermal imaging camera, a defibrillator and staff uniforms.
Registration is $25 and is available beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, the day of the event, at the station, 24 Crestwood Drive, Stevens Point. The walk/run, which winds through the village of Park Ridge and the Green Circle Trail, begins at 9 a.m. An event T-shirt, food and refreshments will be included in the registration.
