Zika is the virus carried by the Aedesaegypti mosquito that can cause brain damage to babies whose mama’s were bitten by the carrier or even had sex with a man who was bitten by this carrier mosquito. Such is the fear and loathing of this disease that when Zika carrying mosquitoes are found in Wisconsin, that discovery makes for front page news.

It has been proposed that we can with only a moderate campaign eliminate the Aedesaegypti mosquito by releasing genetically sterile males into the environment that over time would drive this disease carrying mosquito extinct.
