Travel through the decades with the Pointer community Oct. 8-14 as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point celebrates a “Blast from the Past” theme for Homecoming Week.

“Homecoming is the perfect opportunity for alumni and community members to come to campus, enjoy a variety of activities and reconnect with their Pointer family and friends,” said Laura Gehrman Rottier, director of Alumni Affairs.

Community events open to the public begin at 10 AM Saturday, Oct. 14, with the Homecoming parade following a route that begins on Isadore Street and travels down Fourth Avenue.

A community and campus picnic will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM at the field outside of DeBot Dining Center on campus. The cost is $5 per person. The picnic includes inflatable games, student competitions and trophy presentations.

The Homecoming football game begins at 1 PM at Goerke Field on Minnesota Avenue. The Pointers will take on the UW-Eau Claire Bluegolds. For tickets, call 715-346-4100.

The 2017 Alumni Awards Banquet will be held Saturday evening at 5 PM, honoring four Distinguished Alumni and the Trailblazer, Mary Ann Nigbor Volunteer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award winners.

Several student events will be held throughout the week. On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14, several alumni groups will hold gatherings, including Greek organizations, swimming and diving and football (see www.uwsp.edu/alumni for details). The Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony also will be held Friday at 5:30 PM.

“Enjoy family-oriented events as part of this year’s Homecoming at UW-Stevens Point,” said Kaitlyn Michlig, student coordinator. “We hope that community members will join us as we celebrate the Pointer spirit.”

Find Homecoming information and tickets for the two alumni honors events at www.uwsp.edu/alumni or by calling Alumni Affairs at 715-346-3811 or 877-POINT01. Information is also on Facebook at “UW Stevens Point Alumni.”
