Dolores “Dee” Jane Street, 88, a former Stevens Point resident, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, in Ontario, Calif.

She was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Burdick B. Hicks and Regina Borski Okoneski. She grew up in Stevens Point and attended St. Peter School and St. Joseph Academy. She graduated in 1947.

She was married to John “Jay” Street in 1948 and moved to San Bernardino, Calif., in 1950. They later divorced.

She graduated from San Bernardino Valley College as the valedictorian of her class with her Registered Nurse degree. She worked at San Bernardino County Hospital, San Bernardino Community Hospital, Patton State Hospital and retired from Lanterman Developmental Center in Pomona.

During her retirement she was an active volunteer in her community for the Ontario Police Department “Seniors Patrolling Our Town” (SPOT); Kiwanis in many positions; Youth Accountability Board; Special Olympics; and Pomona Valley Hospital.

She is survived by two sons, Chuck and Bob; one daughter, Sally Jenkins; five grandchildren, Corbin and Alec Street, Matthew and Christopher Jenkins, and Megan Street; three sisters, Vivian Bemouski, Donna Mueller and Mary Hicks; and one brother, Del Hicks.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Steve Okoneski; two brothers, Gerry and Leon B.; and one sister, Elizabeth.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Draper Mortuary, Ontario, Calif. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at St. George Catholic Church, Ontario, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Vincent E. Parker Physics Scholarship at California Polytechnic University in Pomona, Calif.
