Shirley Ann Ciesielski, age 87, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Senior Living on Oct. 4, 2017 surrounded by her family and the care of Ministry Hospice.

A Mass of a Christian Burial for Shirley will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Rev. Edward J. Shuttleworth will officiate. Burial will be at the Plover Cemetery. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 4 – 7 PM on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point.

A rosary will be prayed for Shirley at 6:30 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Friends and family will continue to share memories Tuesday from 9:30-10:15 AM at church.

Shirley was born Jan. 30, 1930 (1:30 A.M.) to Harland K. McCormick and B. Fern Isherwood at St. Michaels Hospital, Stevens Point, Wis. Shirley graduated 8th grade from Roosevelt State Graded School with second-highest honors in Portage County.

She graduated high school from P.J. Jacobs High School on May 28, 1947 (blizzard that night). Shirley was employed half days during her senior year as a bookkeeper by G.W. Frost and Sons Fishing and Tackle Mfg. until her marriage.

Shirley married Robert E.. Ciesielski on Nov. 5, 1949 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, they were high school sweethearts. Shortly after their marriage Shirley and Robert moved to Butler, Wis. and then to Milwaukee, until moving back to Plover on Nov. 2, 1954. During Shirley’s early years she was active in the 4-H club as a junior leader, and setting up a booth at the Rosholt Fair. Shirley and Robert had three children: Mark S. Ciesielski (Cathy), Robert B. Ciesielski (Joelene), both of Plover and Nancy S. Schmidt (David) of Stevens Point.

Shirley had six grandchildren: Heidi Winterhack (Michael), Greta Olsen (Luke), Rob Ciesielski, Cory Ciesielski, Matthew Ciesielski (Mary), Terry (Joan) Jaecks, and Scott Ciesielski (fiance Becky Peterson) and ten great grandchildren: Orion, Avery, Elliot, Aurora, Katya, Zander, Isabella, Brandon, Ashley and Emmett. When Shirley’s children were in school she was active in the P.T.A. and other school activities. Shirley was also active in the PCCHS (60 year member). In Shirley’s younger years she was also employed at the Villiage Inn of Plover and the Hot Fish Shop of Stevens Point. Shirley was then employed at Sentry Insurance from Jan. 4, 1965 until her retirement on Jan. 1, 1991 as a Senior Statistical Analyst. Shirley had an extensive collection of her “favorite recipe” cook books (over 1500). Shirley also composed a cook book for the McCormick family reunion.

After her retirement Shirley enjoyed making and selling crafts and her famous “Time-Out Kids” at the Holly Shoppe. Shirley also enjoyed Decoupaging plates, going to casinos, spoiling her grandchildren, family get togethers, speed walking and her dogs; the late “Bubba” and her current dog “Rusty”. Shirley enjoyed attending Nascar races and watching her grandsons Matt and Scott race at Golden Sands Speedway along with their father Mark.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Harland K. McCormick and B. Fern Isherwood and her daughter Nancy S. Schmidt.

Shirley is survived by her husband Robert. Three brothers; Noel McCormick (Barbara), James McCormick (Shirley) and Fred McCormick (Ginny).

Shirley’s family would like to thank Brookdale Senior Living and Ministry Hospice the great care they provided Shirley.
