The SPASH Girls Tennis team will head to the WIAA state tournament with the No. 2 seeded singles player and two doubles teams in tow.

SPASH Junior Sabrina Tang (28-0) leads the hometown contingent making her third trip to the tournament in Madison on Thursday and Friday, October 12-13.

The Panthers #1 singles star steps on the court at Nielsen Tennis Stadium as the second seed having won the 2017 Wisconsin Valley Conference and WIAA Sectional titles.

Following a first round bye Tang will face the winner of a match between Greta Baake of New Richmond (23-6) and Morgan Nelson of Beaver Dam (25-5).

“Sabrina dedicated countless hours in the off-season to growing her game,” said coach Kyle Falk. “Her time, hard work, and dedication paid off and she had an excellent season which ended with a 28-0 record.”

Numerous wins are against seeded players who earned seeds in the tournament.”

Maggie Negaard/Taylor Konczal come in at 18-2 to face Taylor Owens/.Anna Wilson out of Hudson who enter the meet at 23-2. First serve is scheduled for Thursday at 3 PM.

“Maggie Negaard and Elizabeth Wentzel became partners about a third of the way through the season,” Falk said. “Together, they grew their doubles skills and tactics.” said Falk.

Lillie James/Taylor Konczal, making their first trip to Madison, bring a 15-4 record to the court when they square off against Allison Diestelhorst/Haley Matthieson (16-7) out of Menomonee Falls.

That first-round match is scheduled for Thursday at 3 PM, with the winner to face off against second seeded Frankie La Londe/Alyssa Boyer (Friday at 10:15 AM). The Homestead pair comes in at 30-2 and begins tournament play with a first round bye.
