UW System restructuring will impact UWSP
University of Wisconsin (UW) System is proposing that UW two-year colleges merge with four-year UW institutions beginning next summer as part of a broader restructuring of the colleges and UW-Extensions.
The announcement came late morning Wednesday, Oct. 11 and will impact UW-Stevens Point (UWSP).
“We all have many questions about this restructuring,” UWSP Chancellor Bernie Patterson said in a press statement. To begin moving forward, he said, he has appointed a transition team led by Greg Summers, provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs, and Kristen Hendrickson, chief financial officer and vice chancellor of business affairs at UWSP.
Under the proposed restructuring, UW-Marshfield in Wood County and UW-Marathon County in Wausau would be integrated into UWSP. What that means specifically – functionally and visually – has yet to be determined. Patterson was conferring with those campuses’ leaders Wednesday morning, after press deadline.
