Marlene M. Ostrowski, 82, died Monday Oct. 16, 2017, at home under the care of her family after a battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 17, 1935, to Theresa (Strykowski) and Jacob Jack Shuda in Stevens Point and remained a lifelong resident.

She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and worked as a switchboard operator and supervisor at Bell Telephone Company.

She was married to Henry Ostrowski May 21, 1960. He died in 1997.

She played accordion, knit, canned berries and mushrooms that her husband brought home, and in later years enjoyed gardening flowers, especially begonias, feeding birds, praying the rosary and watching Mother Angelica on TV.

She loved spending time with family, the Strykowski farm, music in the town of Hull, weeknight visits, hosting family gatherings, Jordan park picnics, family vacations, card games of 31 with elderly aunts.

She also enjoyed making dumplings and baking breads, cinnamon rolls, chocolate cake, angel food pie, and especially varieties of Christmas cookies.

She enjoyed helping others, and she welcomed and took care of others in her home along with giving emotional support as they recovered from surgeries and illnesses.

She is survived by her children, Terri (David), and Sandy (Jeff); grandchildren Jacob, Jenessa, Erin and Carmen; sisters-in-law, Lucille and Florie; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; one son, Tom; three sisters, Mona, Grace and Dorothy; one brother, DeLoyd; and brothers- and sisters-in –law, Joe, Connie, Bill and Ruth.

A graveside rosary and service led by Fr. Al Burkhardt took place Friday, Oct. 20, at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
