Youth sports players, parents, coaches and teachers will hear from an expert on the subject at the first “Point in Common” speaker series event this fall.

“Changing the Game – Creating a Positive Mindset in Youth Sports” will be presented at 7 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Sentry Theater, 1800 North Point Drive. Internationally known youth coaching expert, speaker, educator and author Reed Maltbie will share lessons and tips that can be applied immediately. The talk is free and open to the public.

Maltbie is the chief content officer and lead presenter for the Changing the Game Project. The project focuses on returning youth sports to children and providing the most influential adults in their lives — parents and coaches — with the information and resources needed to make sports a positive, healthy and rewarding experience.

He draws from four decades of playing and coaching experience, as well as research, for his presentations. An accomplished soccer player, Maltbie was a member of the Davidson College 1992 NCAA Final Four team. He holds master’s degrees in early childhood education, and sport behavior and performance.

Maltbie also writes for SoccerNation.com, SoccerParenting.com and Amplified Soccer Magazine. He is finishing a forthcoming book, “What’s Your Echo.”
