SPASH Volleyball Opens Tourney Run With Win

The SPASH volleyball team opened its 2017 WIAA tournament run with a 3-0 win over visiting Wausau East at the Panther Fieldhouse on Thursday.
The Panthers stepped on the floor as the No. 4 seed in the bracket. East came in as the No. 13 seed.
Falling behind 12-15 in the first set SPASH went on 13-4 run to pick up the 25-19 win. The Panthers shifted into high gear to close out the match with 25-12 and 25-11 wins and advance to Saturday’s regional final.
Junior outside hitter Kayla Lass rang up 13 kills and 14 digs to lead the Panther attack. Ally Miklesh recorded 23 assists and Rachel Sullivan had one solo block, and one block assist on the evening.
SPASH will host Wausau West, a 3-0 winner over Wisconsin Rapids, on Saturday. First serve is set at the field house for 7 PM.
The Panthers defeated West 3-1 October 12. The Warriors come into Saturday’s matchup as the #5 seed. River Falls is the top seed in the bracket.
Time of the match was 1 hour and 15 minutes.
