Ruth M. Sievwright, 83, Stevens Point, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Willow Brooke Point Senior Living, Stevens Point.

She was born March 6, 1934, the youngest child of the late Harry E. and Ruth (Fulton) Sievwright in Stevens Point. She attended St. Stephen grade school and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1952. She went on to Western Union School in Crawfordsville, Ind., and finished her training at the Stevens Point WU (Western Union) Office.

Due to downsizing, she transferred to WU Milwaukee a couple years later to work in the Technical Service Division. She lived in Minneapolis, Elk Grove, Ill., and Chicago, Ill. After 31 years, she retired from her job and returned to live in her hometown of Stevens Point. For the next 27 years, she was a companion for her sister, Marjorie, who lived to age 98.

She worked part-time at Figi’s, made quilts for the Hmong children at McKinley School, provided endless supplies of crocheted dish cloths and handmade gifts for family members, collected dolls, worked puzzles, read and taught knitting and crocheting. She was also an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Lou” Lewellen Sievwright; a cousin; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, stepsister, Eleanor Day Hubbard, John (Grace), Marjorie, James (Virginia), Harry (Gladys), Hazel (Asbury) Nix, Robert (Adeline), Jerry and and Earle.

A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, with Rev. Jerzy Rebacz presiding. Visitation was at the church prior to services Tuesday. Burial followed in St. Stephen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank the Ascension St Michael’s Hospital staff, Dr. Anna Stockhausen, Heartland Hospice and Willow Brooke Point Senior Living for the care given.
