Geraldine A. “Gerry” Chekouras, formerly of Stevens Point, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017.

She was born in Harvard, Ill., June 16, to the late Mary Jane (Scott) and Joseph Wolfe. They moved to Beloit shortly thereafter. She often spoke of her Irish lineage and remembered visiting her grandparents’ farm in Illinois where there was lots of Irish dancing and Irish music played on the “fiddles.” She attended Beloit Schools and graduated from Beloit High School.

After graduating, she worked for the Beloit Telephone Company as an operator and later doing secretarial work at Fairbanks Morse.

She was married to Carl Chekouras at St. Thomas Catholic Church March 2, 1946.

She loved children, music, flowers and laughter.

The couple moved to Stevens Pont and settled a house in Plover that was half finished; they completed the work themselves. She was a strong Catholic. She loved her family.

Survivors include two sons, Dave (Joyce) Chekouras, and Carl Chekouras; one daughter, Susan (Ken Turzinski); and her granddaughter, Jenny Chekouras.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; and one brother, Donald Wolfe.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tender Reflections in Weston for their care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017. in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Beloit, with the Rev. Michael Resop officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the church.

Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, Beloit, assisted the family with arrangements.
