County’s Largest Child Porn Offender in History Going to Prison

By Brandi Makuski
The largest peer-to-peer collector of child pornography convicted in Portage Co. history was sentenced to prison last week.
Christopher J. Ehlenfeldt, 41, will be 92 years old by the time his sentence of prison and extended supervision is complete. After that, he’ll be on lifetime sex offender monitoring.
Ehlenfeldt was charged after his wife turned over his computer to the Stevens Point Police Dept. in August of 2012. Investigators from SPPD and the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office worked with computer forensic experts from the Wis. Division of Criminal Investigation, uncovering more than 25,000 images and videos of children — some as young as three — being sexually assaulted and exploited by adults and animals.
Ehlenfeldt is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in Shawno Co., after being convicted on 55 counts of possession of child pornography there in December 2015. That prison term will be served consecutively with the Portage Co. sentence of 26 years.
Between the two cases, Ehlenfeldt will serve a total of 23 years of extended supervision after he is released from prison.
“Child pornography is not a victim-less crime,” said Portage Co. District Attorney Louis Molepske. “Fifty-one years sends a message to the Portage and Shawano county communities that possession of child pornography will not be tolerated.”
