The Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) girls swimming team will send individuals in seven events, as well as three relay teams, to the WIAA Division 1 State Meet at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Natatorium at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

Anna Vandehey, Alli Scharbarth, Sydney Hoff, Julia Stupar, Kennedy Gilbertson and Casey Summers will all compete for the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) girls swimming team at the WIAA Division 1 State Meet Saturday, Nov. 11.

The Panthers won 10 of 12 events at the WIAA Division 1 Hudson Sectional Saturday, Nov. 4, as senior Julia Stupar, junior Kennedy Gilbertson, junior Casey Summers and junior Anna Vandehey each claimed Individual Titles to advance to state, to lead SPASH to its first Sectional Title as a team since 1990.

“Our team goal was to win Sectionals, which is crazy without a diving team, so I’m really proud of all of us,” said Stupar. “We swam really, really well on Saturday, and it was just so fun.”

“It was just a really good meet,” said first-year SPASH girls swimming head coach Courtney McMurrain.“They put in all of the work, and I had quite a bit of confidence that we were going to have a really good year this year.

“And now I’m pretty excited just to get down there and get to swimming,” she said.
