The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) men’s basketball team will open the 2017-18 season when it hosts St. Olaf (Minn.) at Bennett Court at Quandt Fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Junior guard Ethan Bublitz (4) was a First Team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selection last season after he led the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) men’s basketball team in scoring with 14.3 points per game last season.

The Pointers return four starters from last year’s team that finished 14-10 overall, when they opened their season with a 63-55 loss at St. Olaf.

“We’ve been waiting patiently,” said UWSP men’s basketball head coach Bob Semling. “Because of last year and circumstances, our guys have been very anxious and very excited to start fresh and start new.

“To know that we’ve been through two years where we’ve been in so many hard-fought, close games, and we have played a lot of guys that have now gained valuable minutes in the WIAC and against a top-ranked schedule in the country,” he said. “And we have guys that have been waiting for this year for a long time, that are really excited.”
