Hildegard S. Morris, 81, Plover, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at North Haven Assisted Living, Stevens Point. She was under the care of Ascension Ministry Hospice.

Mrs. Morris was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Giessen, Germany. She was the daughter of the late August and Lina (Benner) Schomber. She attended cooking school in Germany and also attended Tech School in Rice Lake.

Her marriage to Jack Morris took place in November 1956 in Giessen, Germany. She lived in Ashland until 1985. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983. Mrs. Morris moved to the Plover area in 1985.

She was employed as a dietary manager at Court Manor, Bethel and Portage County Health Care Center.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Plover. She was known for her cream puffs.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, baking and traveling to Germany.

She knitted hundreds of baby afghans for the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield.

She is survived by her children, Barb Clementi, Plover, Paul (Linda) Morris, Marshfield, and Linda (Dennis) Gnerlich, Stevens Point; and two grandchildren, Christina Clementi and Ben (Brooke) Clementi.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Heinz Schomber; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Annaliese (Albert) Schaefer, Lani Schomber and Marianne (Walter) Clasen.

Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Plover. Pastor Leah Woehr-Grande will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name will be established at a later date.
